{"id":378,"date":"2019-08-03T10:44:00","date_gmt":"2019-08-03T08:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vnu-ev.de\/en\/?page_id=378"},"modified":"2021-06-14T19:05:45","modified_gmt":"2021-06-14T17:05:45","slug":"environmental-management","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.vnu-ev.de\/en\/department-heads\/environmental-management","title":{"rendered":"Department Environmental Management"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>What's the point?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Dr. Birgit Gieren is the head of department at VNU and the contact person for practical environmental management issues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The department is the bridge between the management system and the practical requirements of corporate environmental protection.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The department discusses and transports, for example, news from the DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 standard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The adaptation to the \"High Level Structure\" (HLS), which will in future apply to all management system standards, was completed with the publication of the new standard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>There are many open questions when it comes to practical implementation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">How can the context of an organisation be determined?<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">What are interested parties and how do you structure the dialogue with them?<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">The knowledge of the organisation becomes more and more valuable - how is knowledge preserved and usable for other people \/ generations?<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">What are the risks from the point of view of environmental care and what are the resulting opportunities?<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">How do we define the binding obligations?<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">With increased management responsibility, integration into business processes is desired - how does this work?<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">The life cycle of products and services should be taken into account - how far can and must we take the supply \/ distribution chain into account?<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">What are the (significant) environmental aspects of (production) processes, products and services and how do we assess their environmental impact?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The department and the interaction of the members of the VNU should bring the requirements \/ concepts of the new standard to life and thus ensure their practical implementation and increase the environmental performance of the company.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">How do I integrate environmental protection\/environmental management into my day-to-day business?<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>What can you expect?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In coordination with the VNU Board, we are planning in this department:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Publication of information as required<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Lectures at events of the association<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Point of contact for your questions and suggestions on practical environmental management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What&#8217;s the point?
