Department Climate Protection

What's the point?

With the Climate Treaty of Paris, the international community made the pledge to keep global warming below 2° C. This ambitious goal can only be achieved by drastically reducing anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. Climate protection is therefore a central challenge for companies in the future.

VNU's stance

The VNU is committed to environmentally sound management, taking into account social compatibility and economic efficiency. Climate change threatens the environment with high economic and social consequences, therefore the VNU supports the urgently needed efforts to meet the 2° C target and the associated drastic reduction of anthropogenic greenhouse gases. Main topics

The VNU wants to further spread awareness of climate protection in companies, promote the avoidance of greenhouse gases in companies, and also carry the risks and opportunities of adaptation to climate change into companies.

The VNU has set itself the goal of implementing climate protection more deeply in companies. Existing management systems such as EMAS and ISO 14001 are to be supplemented in terms of content in order to facilitate further reporting on the basis of the GHG Protocol or CDP.

On the political level, the VNU is involved in national and international committees, hearings and other processes. The VNU is represented by Stephan Schunkert, head of the department.
