The results of the first edition of the European Corporate Sustainability Barometer were analysed. Pascal Durand (former Member of the European Parliament) delivered the keynote speech.
In the course of the incremental introduction of the CSR Directive and the publication of the first sustainability reports in 2025, more than 400 European CSR directors responded to the survey, which was prepared by EASP in cooperation with VNU and Birdeo. Examining the implications of CSRD on CSR governance in European companies, the study shows that almost half of the companies surveyed have already changed their CSR organisation so as to better respond to CSRD. In turn, this implies that the other half of the companies surveyed have not yet made the move. On the other hand, half of the companies that have not yet made any changes believe that transformation is necessary, which confirms a growing awareness among the majority, but also reveals the extent to which organisational and financial adjustments have yet to be made.
The discussion was conducted by the following speakers:
· Pascal Durand, CSRD rapporteur, Former Member of The European Parliament (Speaker)
· Sébastien Mandron, C3D - France (Speaker)
· Maria-Cristina Zaccone, Sustainability Makers - Italy (Speaker)
· Paul Burke, ICRS - UK (Speaker)
· Birgit Gieren, VNU - Germany (Speaker)
· Carlos Arango Arconada, DIRSE - Spain (Speaker)
· Catherine Brennan, General Manager, Birdeo, EASP & C3D-Member (Moderator)
· Camille Sztejnhorn, ESG Impact Director, Lefebvre Sarrut Group, EASP & C3D-Mitglied (Host)
This diverse panel of experts will share their perspectives on how CSRD might transform the strategic positioning of sustainability in European boardrooms, fostering stronger governance and commitment to sustainable business practices.
