  • After graduating as a meteorologist from the Technical University of Darmstadt (now TU) in 1990, Bettina Heimer gained further professional experience in a third-party funded project of the German Environment Agency. At the beginning of 1992, she started as a technical employee at TÜV Technische Überwachung Hessen GmbH and was involved with the management system standards ISO 14001 and EMAS (environment) as well as ISO 9001 (quality) from the very beginning. When she moved from Darmstadt to Bochum in 2001, she started working as a freelance and independent management consultant, seminar lecturer and external certification auditor or environmental verifier. This led to the founding of her own management consultancy QUORUM, which she has successfully managed since 2001. In addition to her curiosity about other people and her enjoyment of communication, Bettina Heimer has strong organisational skills. Her other interests include reading, sports (swimming, dancing, cycling, skiing, sailing) and theatre.

The direct exchange with our members, the trusting and collegial work in the board and the very good cooperation with the office are the most important reasons for me to get involved in the VNU. In addition, many interesting events and the inter/national contacts offer the opportunity to help shape environmental and sustainability management. Due to the close cooperation with the office, I coordinate almost all official events of the VNU outside the EMAS Club Europe, such as the Environmental Verifier Day, the Environmental and Sustainability Manager Day and the VNU Annual Conference.

Bettina Heimer was elected to the board in 2001. Today she is vice president and treasurer. She heads the Water Risk Department and is the contact person for the Head of the Energy Management Department (Jochen Buser).

Bettina Heimer has experience in project work with the German Environment Agency (EMASeasy) and the Lake Constance Foundation (biodiversity). She is active in the German EMAS Advisory Board, leads individual participations in legislative procedures (CSR Directive on non-financial reporting obligations) and supports Mr. Lennart Schleicher in international cooperations and initiatives.
