The new Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG) will essentially come into force on 1 January 2023. The aim of the law is to establish new human rights and environmental due diligence obligations in the supply chain. Initially, the law directly covers companies that generally employ at least 3,000 workers in Germany. The number of employees will be reduced to 1000 on 1 January 2024. Indirectly, smaller companies may also be covered if large customers enforce the due diligence obligations in the supply chain. Violations may result in high penalties and civil liability risks.
In this short webinar, the scope of application, the objects of protection and duties of care as well as the possible legal consequences of the LkSG will be presented. Finally, the immediate tasks in practice will be outlined.
Referenten
Klaus J. Schuler, Head of VNU department business ethics at the VNU and Managing Director of Tripl3Leader will introduce and then moderate questions. The expert input on the LkSG will be provided by lawyer Florian V. Schuler, Gleiss Lutz, Stuttgart.
